Mari-Elise and Brandon met during their freshman year of college when Brandon was visiting a friend who attended the University of Maryland, where Mari-Elise was a student. The duo remained friends all through undergrad and graduate school, but always lived in different states. As fate would have it, the couple both ended up relocating to Alexandria, Virginia for work.
